HOUSTON, Oct. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Northern Offshore, Ltd.
(Oslo Bors: NOF.OL) reported that a small fire had broken out on the Energy
Enhancer jackup rig owned by an affiliate of Northern Offshore. The rig was
operating in the U.K. Sector of the North Sea. No injuries were sustained and
the fire was contained and extinguished by the onboard fire control team.

'We are very pleased that no one was injured during this incident,' said
Fred Brooks, Senior Vice President of Operations for Northern Offshore, 'and
at no time was there any risk to the well the rig was working on at the time.'
While thirty-four members of the rig crew were evacuated as a precautionary
measure, the Company expects to return to normal operations within a few days.
Northern Offshore, Ltd. is a Bermuda holding company which operates
offshore oil and gas production and drilling vessels deployed around the

production facility, and five drilling units (a drillship, a semisubmersible
