Program will help Marines manage budgetary requirements for
Defense Department through automated tools
BearingPoint, Inc. (NYSE:BE), one of the world’s
largest management and technology consulting firms, announced today that
the United States Marine Corps Headquarters has awarded the Company an
indefinite delivery indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract for information
management and business process improvement services. The single-award
contract has a five-year ceiling of $22.3 million.
BearingPoint will provide information management services under task
orders issued by the Programs and Resources Department Information
Management Office at Marine Corps Headquarters. Under these task orders,
BearingPoint will support, maintain and enhance systems and applications
for the Marine Corps’ execution of the Defense
Department’s Planning, Programming, Budgeting
and Execution (PPBE) process. BearingPoint will also provide management
consulting services to the Department, particularly around business
process improvement. By using Lean, Six Sigma and other strategies to
help the department become more efficient and effective, BearingPoint
hopes to help enhance department mission performance and provide tools
to support department-wide decision making based on increased analytic
capabilities.
BearingPoint will support a variety of technologies including
custom-built applications using Oracle™
Database, a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 implementation, and
an implementation of the Cognos (an IBM company) business intelligence
suite. BearingPoint will also provide program management and IT support
services for a suite of eight systems that deliver the Marine Corps’
Programs and Resources Portal.

president of BearingPoint’s Navy sector. “The
anticipated tasks under this contract will support Marine Corps
leadership through a full end-to-end suite of business process and
system enhancements, allowing them to make better informed critical
decisions in the coming years.”
The contract award comes on the heels of a five-year identity management
contract worth as much as $15.6 million that BearingPoint recently
signed with the Marine Corps Systems Command.
