BearingPoint, Inc. (NYSE:BE), one of the world’s
largest management and technology consulting firms, today announced it
has hired Michael A. Kirby, former Deputy Under Secretary of the Army,
to bolster its public
services business
transformation expertise. While serving at Army Headquarters, Kirby
was responsible for implementing the Army’s
business transformation initiatives, using Lean Six Sigma as the core
methodology.
“I’m very pleased to
be joining BearingPoint to support its numerous government clients with
business transformation,” said Kirby. “We
are at a point in history where the incredible fighting capacity of today’s
military has outpaced its business processes, where government
is gearing up for its first executive branch change in a post-9/11
environment, where the ongoing financial crisis is certain to drive more
change over the coming months and years. BearingPoint has a rich
background in helping government manage transformation and change, and I
look forward to adding my years of expertise and knowledge to their
efforts.”
Prior to joining Army Headquarters in June 2005, Kirby was the Business
Development Deputy of Mission Systems for Northrop Grumman, focusing on
complex systems integration for defense and intelligence customers. He
also served as a combat arms officer in the U.S. Army, and commanded a
tank battalion in the 1991 Gulf War. His assignments included tours in
the Office of the Army Chief of Staff, as well as the Joint Staff.
“We are very pleased that Michael Kirby chose
to join BearingPoint at a time when his skills are critically needed by
our clients,” said Mark Goulart, senior vice
president for BearingPoint’s Defense segment. “His
proven track record in business
transformation will be a key asset in our efforts to support
agencies government-wide in deploying the tools and strategies necessary
to navigate
change.”
Kirby earned his BS in Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at
West Point, an MS in National Security Strategy from the National War
College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
