Company declares 251st consecutive
quarterly dividend
At Sara Lee Corporation’s (NYSE:
SLE) annual meeting of stockholders, held today in Lombard, Ill.,
management shared the company’s progress over
the past year, its opportunities for future growth and plans for
returning value to stockholders.
Also, the board of directors today declared a regular quarterly dividend
of $.11 per share on the company’s
common stock. This represents nearly a 5% increase over the prior
quarterly dividend. The dividend is payable on Jan. 8, 2009, to
stockholders of record at the close of business on Dec. 1, 2008.
Sara Lee Corp. has paid quarterly dividends to its stockholders
continuously for more than 60 years, and today’s
announcement represents the 251st consecutive
quarterly dividend declared by the corporation.
The preliminary results of the voting are as follows:

Stockholders elected 11 incumbent directors and two new nominees –
Crandall C. Bowles, chairman of Springs Industries and Dr. John
McAdam, retired chief executive officer of Imperial Chemical
Industries Limited – to serve one-year terms
on Sara Lee’s board of directors.

Stockholders ratified the appointment of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as
Sara Lee’s registered public
accountants for fiscal 2009.

Stockholders re-approved performance measures used for
performance-based awards granted under Sara Lee’s
long-term incentive stock plans.
