(Source: Datamonitor)trackingBilling and CRM vendor Amdocs has reported a 14% decline in net income to $82.71m for the fourth quarter 2008, compared to $96.24m in the year-ago quarter, on revenue up 14% at $825.27m.

During the quarter, operating income grew 8% to $101.46m, while diluted EPS fell 12% to $0.38. It had cash flow from operations of $178m. The company said license revenue fell 9% to $41.9m, while services revenue grew 15% to $783.36m.

For fiscal 2008, the company reported a 4% increase in net income to $378.9m compared to net income of $364.93m the previous year, on revenue up 11% at $3.16 billion.

Dov Baharav, chief executive at Amdocs, said: "Our earnings per share were adversely impacted by the unprecedented extreme volatility in exchange rates and the rapid strengthening of the US dollar against other currencies. Absent this, our non-GAAP diluted earnings per share would have been within our guidance range of $0.61 to $0.63. The financial volatility that we experienced in the fourth quarter is accompanied by economic uncertainty and these factors are impacting our outlook for fiscal 2009."

For the first quarter 2009, the company expects revenue between $785m and $810m and non-GAAP diluted EPS between $0.54 and $0.57.
