A.O. Smith Corp., down $3.08 at $27.65

The manufacturer of electric motors and water heaters cut its fourth-quarter profit outlook on weaker construction and consumer spending.

Office Depot Inc., up 20 cents at $2.63

During the next three months, the office supply chain will cut 2,200 jobs and close about 9 percent of its North American stores.

Rio Tinto PLC, up $17.76 at $90.85

To reduce debt amid weaker metals demand, the miner will cut 14,000 jobs worldwide and reduce capital investments.

Eastman Kodak Co., down 93 cents at $6.27

The photographic products company withdrew its 2008 financial forecast and said executives won't receive pay raises next year.

Dynegy Inc., up 3 cents at $1.94

The power producer said its financial situation is solid but gave a wide range for its 2009 profit forecast on economic uncertainties.

Praxair Inc., up $1.32 at $58.27

The industrial gas supplier reduced its fourth-quarter profit outlook, but said it will cut jobs and underperforming product lines.

Progressive Corp., up 42 cents at $15.21

November profit rose 48 percent as the insurer recorded gains from the sale of Treasurys, which is part of its tax planning strategy.

NASDAQ

Electronic Arts Inc., down $2.66 at $16.69

The video game publisher expects to miss its fiscal 2009 sales and profit outlook on weak sales and said it will cut more jobs.
