Dec. 14--The Andersons Inc. has moved a step closer to a proposed expansion.

During last week's meeting, Cass County Plan Commission members agreed to recommend designation of an Economic Revitalization Area for a 10-year property tax abatement.

The recommendation still needs to be approved by the county council.

The business sought the designation to help with costs of building new offices, a truck scale and storage for fertilizers on the undeveloped property at 2344S 400E.

The project had won the approval of the Logansport Planning Commission last month.

Small Parts expanding

Materials Processing Inc., also known as Small Parts, apparently will be expanding.

Company representatives failed to return phone calls about the project, but according to a building permit, the business, located at 112 E. Mildred St., is planning a $275,000 office addition.

According to its Web site, the business, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, is known as a supplier for custom metal stampings and assemblies.
