Jan. 5--DEPA WINS SAUDI CONTRACT: Interior contracting services provider DEPA has won a $7.84m contract to carry out renovations for the Office of the Minister of Defense and Aviation in Jeddah. The deal, which is for renovation and the fit-out works of offices and public areas, is due for completion in April 2009.
PALM UTILITIES COMMISSIONS TREATMENT PLANT: Istithmar World subsidiary Palm Utilities has commissioned a water treatment plant for Palm Jumeirah. The Sea Water Reverse Osmosis plant will provide drinking water to developments in the Palm crescent. A further sea water treatment facility will be commissioned in mid-2009.
CARRIER LAUNCHES DISTRICT COOLING CHILLER: Carrier, a unit of United Technologies Corporation, has launched a new chiller for district cooling facilities in the Middle East. The Evergreen 19XRD offers dual modular and integral configuration and uses non-ozone depleting refrigerant HFC-134a. Carrier has a number of subsidiaries in the region.
MALAYSIAN FIRM WINS UAE WASTE COLLECTION PROJECT: A unit of Malaysian firm AWC Facility Solutions has won a contract to design, supply and install a waste collection system in the UAE, Khaleej Times has reported. The contract costing $46.5m was awarded by Tamouh to Multi Link Environmental Services of UAE, an associate company of AWC.
