Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group Inc., up 28 cents at $1.58

While the auto rental company expects to post a fourth-quarter loss, it says it ended 2008 with a cash cushion of more than $210 million.

Continental Airlines Inc., up $1.19 at $20.74

Though airline traffic declined in December, capacity cuts meant occupancy, a key industry metric, actually rose from a year ago.

Dow Chemical Co., up $1 at $16.05

The chemical company will still pay its dividend as it tries to recoup billions from Kuwait's Petrochemical Industries Co., which pulled out of a joint venture plan.

ArvinMeritor Inc., up $1.28 at $3.95

The auto supplier is temporarily cutting the pay of its top executives by 10 percent due to worsening economic conditions.

Acuity Brands Inc., down 26 cents at $35.10

Fiscal first-quarter profit tumbled 38 percent, and the lighting equipment maker said results could suffer through the year.

NASDAQ

Micrel Inc., up 27 cents at $7.36

Shares rose, even as the chip maker said it would cut about 6 percent of its work force and trimmed its fourth-quarter earnings and revenue estimates on lower orders.

Vasco Data Security International Inc., down $1.52 at $8.82

The data-security product maker said 2008 revenue will miss estimates as customers delay orders and sales take longer to close.

Amedisys Inc., up $6.65 at $46.98

Past acquisitions and improvements at current operations will help boost profit in 2009, the home nursing company said.
