Visteon is demonstrating its latest advancements in cockpit electronics - including audio and infotainment, driver information and center stack electronics - at the 2009 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Jan. 8-11.

Visteon's latest infotainment platforms and connectivity solutions are designed to allow vehicle manufacturers to easily integrate rapidly evolving multimedia requirements and services. Through dedicated and syndicated research, Visteon engineers and designers apply various HMI methodologies to develop solutions that enhance how vehicle occupants interface with the vehicle. This basic premise can help automakers define their unique brand signatures and differentiate vehicles within a platform or from the competition.

Designing products that can successfully integrate attractive new features while limiting the incremental information processing burden imposed on the driver is a critical objective of Visteon's advanced development work in HMI. Visteon's focus on solutions that integrate proximity sensing and haptic controls - such as force feedback touch surfaces - enables programmable tactile feedback (like a click or pop beneath your finger) that can be rapidly tailored to create a different feel when activated.

'The rapid convergence of automotive and consumer electronics is driving increased consumer demand for infotainment content and features in today's vehicles,' said Steve Meszaros, president of Visteon's electronics product group. 'Historically, automotive electronics have been dominated by proprietary hardware and software solutions with limited ability to upgrade once installed in the vehicle.
