Jan. 10--Northwest Ohio continues to shed jobs in recession, as three area companies announced the elimination of more than 250 positions within the next several months.
Automotive parts maker Johnson Controls Injection Molding LLC notified local and state officials that it plans to close its plant in Wauseon in March, putting 100 employees out of work.
The facility was acquired by Johnson Controls in July in the bankruptcy of former parts maker Plastech Engineered Products Inc. Johnson also operates former Plastech plants in Monroe County's Frenchtown Charter Township and in Bryan.
Meanwhile, beryllium manufacturer Brush Wellman Inc. has laid off 56 hourly and nine salaried workers in Elmore. The cuts at the company's 55-year-old flagship plant followed the layoff of 30 workers in November, a company human resources official said.
Ryder System Inc. will furlough 68 employees in Findlay and Bowling Green on Feb. 19 when it shutters two truck terminals in those cities that transport parts to Toyota plants in Canada, local and state officials said.
Ryder officials couldn't be reached for comment.
