Jan. 11--Jimmy Page's manager, Peter Mensch, revealed last Wednesday that Led Zeppelin will tour and make a new record this year with a replacement singer for Robert Plant.
That news sparked a public outcry, and so the next day Mensch backpedaled and said plans for a Plant-less reunion had been ditched.
Britain's top music magazine, NME, has been fanning the flames, reporting that Page and fellow Led Zeppelin members John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have discussed touring without Plant, listing three potential replacement singers -- Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Myles Kennedy of the far-lesser-known post-grunge band Alter Bridges.
Hey, why not David Coverdale of Whitesnake? He always seemed to be aping Plant anyways. Or how about Sarah McLellan from the all-female tribute band Lez Zeppelin?
Plant repeatedly has said he still gets along well with his former Led Zeppelin mates, but he just doesn't want to tour with them.
Of course, this could all just be orchestrated drama to further hype an inevitable reunion.
I'd like to hear what you, the reader, think.
Should Led Zeppelin consider replacing Plant? And if so, who should they hire?
WAY TO REPRESENT
Sewickley resident Megan Parris made a lasting impression in last Monday's season debut of "The Bachelor."
On four occasions, ABC censors bleeped out cuss words uttered by Parris, who has a 14-month-old son. Parris' biggest outburst came after her 24 fellow "Bachelor" beauties voted her the contestant they most wanted to see eliminated immediately.
The joke was on them, as that vote granted automatic immunity to Parris, although bachelor Jason Mesnick said he would have kept her around anyway.
Tune in Monday to see Parris tangle with the 14 remaining husband seekers.
BRIGHTON LIGHTS
Miramax has set March 27 as the release date for "Adventureland," a comedy that spent its first day of filming in the Dawson Ridge area of Brighton Township.
Most of the film takes place at Kennywood Park, with another scene shot on the 16th Street Bridge in Pittsburgh.
When filming began in October 2007, "Adventureland's" co-star, Kristen Stewart was relatively obscure.
