Jan. 12--TEJARI IS GLOBAL TOP TEN ESOURCING VENDOR: Tejari, an online B2B marketplace launched by the government of Dubai, has been ranked as the eighth largest electronic sourcing platform in the world, according to a report by Forrester. The report said eSourcing products are the second-most sought after in the electronic purchasing family, with the global market reaching $878m in 2008 and expected to top $1bn in 2009. Forrester's independent report findings are based on interviews with more than 100 vendor companies globally.
ICTQATAR SOFTWARE TO AID BLIND STUDENTS: By implementing new software applications, ictQatar will aid many visually impaired students at the Al Noor Institute for the Blind. A screen reader software will read aloud all the text that is displayed on a website and a Braille reader keyboard is able to raise pegs through holes in the keyboard.
TECOM WINS WEBSITE AWARD: Tecom Investments' Pearl Awards website has won the 2008 UAE Web Awards category for Best Strategic Forums. The UAE Web Awards is a national competition open to all web and business developers in the UAE and is considered one of the leading awards in the IT industry.
SATYAM SHARES PLUNGE: India's Satyam Computer Services has plunged more than 70 percent to an 11-year low, after investors questioned the survival of the fraud-hit outsourcing firm, Reuters has reported. The company will be cut from India's benchmark stock index, the Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share Sensex from Monday.
