Jan. 13--The Perry Township Municipal Authority is preparing phase two of its sewage project.

The project will involve constructing a public sewer system along Rehoboth Church Road, Banning Hill and Whitsett.

The system should be complete by August 2010.

About 146 township residents will receive sewage services once the project has been completed.

KLH Engineering, Pittsburgh, will design the project. Dave Coldren of KLH said the plans should be completed in June, with construction tentatively set to begin in March 2010.

The sewage will be treated at the plant built at Wickhaven during the first phase of the project.

The project will cost about $3.871 million, with the bulk paid through grants, including $2.16 million anticipated from the federal Rural Utilities Service and $1.1 million from the Army Corps of Engineers. RUS is also expected to provide a $440,000 loan, and the authority is responsible for $100,000.

The authority will prepare informational brochures about the project as preparations continue.

Authority members will reorganize for 2009 at 7 p.m. Monday in the township building in Star Junction and pass the budget.
