Jan. 13--Charlotte-Mecklenburg police arrested a man tonight they say shot a teenager multiple times outside 727 E. 17th St., north of uptown.
Cedric Jones, 18, was taken to Presbyterian Hospital by a witness to the shooting. He was shot in the pelvic area about 5:30 p.m. and currently is in stable but critical condition, police said.
Officers in the Eastway Division responded to the scene and secured it immediately. They began canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses, who led them to the suspect. The victim and suspect apparently grew up together. They were outside on East 17th when they got into argument.
The suspect allegedly fired at Jones, hitting him first in the thigh. Detectives found the suspect walking along East 17th and took him into custody. After questioning at CMPD headquarters, the suspect was charged in the incident, police said. His name hasn't been released.
