Jan. 15--Outdoor lifestyle store Zumiez and women's apparel retailer Aerie will be filling anticipated vacancies at Coral Ridge Mall this year.
Zumiez plans to open this spring in a 2,689-square-foot space being vacated by Gadzooks, according to a statement issued by General Growth Properties, which owns and operates the mall.
The 350-store chain specializes in apparel, music and outdoor gear, including snowboards, skateboards and skate rails.
Aerie is slated to open in early summer at a 4,700square-foot space next to Vanity being vacated by Lane Bryant. The chain, which is owned by American Eagle, features women's intimates and loungewear known as Dormwear. It has more than 110 stores in the United States and Canada.
Zumiez has one store in Iowa, at Northpark Mall in Davenport. American Eagle has no Aerie stores in the state, according to the Aerie Web site.
Many Coral Ridge Mall stores are remodeling. Helzberg Diamonds, Regis Hairstylists, Gamestop, Panda Express and Kitchen Experts remodeled in the final three months of 2008.
Stores planning to remodel in 2009 include Orange Julius, Karmel Korn, Pretzelmaker, Trade Secret, Motherhood Maternity and The Buckle.
