Jan. 21--TOKYO -- Panasonic Corp. said Wednesday it will launch Feb. 13 two "tough" high-end laptop personal computers that the company claims will not break even if they are dropped from a height of 90 centimeters.
The Toughbook CF-19 uses light-emitting diodes for its backlight to double the display brightness and the Toughbook CF-30 cuts the light reflection rate of its display to less than one-third of a conventional model, the company said.
The two PCs' displays are easily viewable even under direct sunlight, Panasonic said. They can also operate for up to 10 hours without recharging.
Both are equipped with Intel high-performance central processing units to bring desktop-equivalent performance. The CF-19 is estimated to sell for 310,000 to 325,000 yen and the CF-30 for 450,000 yen.
