Johnson Addresses Council: ?Cruisin' the Chisholm Trail' Update Due

Jan. 26--Tammy Johnson of Main Street Duncan will make a presentation to the Duncan City Council at Tuesday's regular meeting.

Johnson will update the council on plans for "Cruisin' the Chisholm Trail," which will take place April 17-18.

"What we're doing, because we get a small amount of city funding, I think that if they (the city) are giving us money, it is my responsibility to let them know what is going on," Johnson said.

"I have to get the permits for shutting down the streets and the cruise, which I've already done. They (the council) supports the program, and I'd certainly hope that they would come out and support what is going on."

The council will also consider approval of the consent agenda that contains:

--Issuance of February 2009 blanket purchase orders as required by OS 62, Section 310.8.

--Shawnee Lighting Systems Pay Request No. 1 in the amount of $90,564.45 for Abe Raizen Soccer Fields Lighting Extension Project.

--England Construction Pay Request No. 6 in the total amount of $16,362.21 for services rendered on the Storm Sewer and Drainage Repair 2008 Project.

--T&G Construction Pay Request No. 11 in the total amount of $307,036.71 for services rendered on the Revenue Bond Road Improvements 2007 Project.

--EST Inc. Pay Request No. 18 in the amount of $46,339.10 for professional services rendered in conjunction with the Revenue Bond Street Improvements Project.

--Award bids for various Street Department road materials.

--Declare listed books as surplus and authorize their disposal by the Friends of the Library.

The council will also consider a presentation on the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority activities.

There is also a request before the council for use permitted on review to allow a night club/ tavern in C-4, general commercial zoning district for property located at 1108 S. U.S. Highway 81.

That building is where Paradise Family Fun Center was formerly located.

The council will also discuss current policies relating to public construction plans and specifications and other related policies.

The financial statements for Dec. 31, 2008, will be presented.

After the council meeting, the Public Utilities Authority will come to order, and consider approving the consent agenda, which contains:

--A pay request from Cobb Engineer in the amount of $12,178.32 for professional services for the Airport Terminal Building Project.

--A pay request from CTS in the amount of $17,250.50 for professional services rendered in conjunction with the Water Treatment Plant TOC Reduction Project.

--Award various Water Department low bids.

n Supplemental appropriation to the Water Production Chemicals Account No. 6106-522900 in the amount of $700,000.

There will be a special meeting of the Duncan City Council, Feb. 3 at 5:15 p.m. to discuss changes to the city charter.
