The Hifn Express DR 250/255 products are the industry's first silicon-accelerated data de-duplication cards, delivering unprecedented levels of capacity optimization by offloading the compute-intensive hashing process used in de-duplication, thus enabling the high-performance necessary for in-line storage applications, such as NAS and IP SAN. The Hifn accelerator cards improve storage capacity utilization by reducing redundant information through two levels of silicon-accelerated capacity optimization: first, by offloading and accelerating the powerful SHA-1 or MD5 hashing algorithms used in de-duplication, and second, by performing single-pass data compression.
