Feb. 10--Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg police cars and a Stanly County ambulance have been involved in crashes today in Charlotte.
None of the safety personnel involved in the collisions was injured.
The first incident happened about 8:50 a.m., when an ambulance carrying a patient from Stanly County was involved in a multi-vehicle collision on Albemarle Road at Harrisburg Road.
Eric Morrison, a spokesman for Medic, Mecklenburg County's emergency medical service, said the ambulance was carrying a patient to a Charlotte hospital. He said none of the crew members aboard the ambulance was injured.
Medic took the original patient to the hospital.
At about 10:30 a.m., a CMPD car was involved in a minor collision at East 6th and North McDowell streets in uptown. The police officer was not hurt, but Medic took both people in the other vehicle to Carolinas Medical Center with injuries that were described as not serious.
The third wreck happened before noon, on Sam Furr Road at Birkdale Commons Parkway in Huntersville. The CMPD officer was not hurt, but the driver of the other car was taken by Medic to Presbyterian Hospital Huntersville. The victim's injuries are not life-threatening, authorities say.
The two CMPD wrecks involved vehicles driving in normal traffic, without sirens and emergency lights, Morrison said. The Stanly County ambulance had its lights and siren going.
