Here are highlights from Thursday's Analyst Blog:

TriQuint Misses, Lowers Outlook

TriQuint Semiconductor (NASDAQ: TQNT) posted its Q4 and FY08 results yesterday after the market close. Q4 pro-forma EPS of $0.05 missed our estimate by a penny, with revenues came in strong at $149 million compared to our $143 million estimate.

Although contribution from its 3G and WLAN products were impressive towards Q4 revenue growth, the company experienced slowing demand beginning in Q4 which is expected to spill over and negatively impact its Q1 results. The revenue outlook for Q1 is nearly 14% shy of our current expectations with an expected earnings loss of $(0.07) to $(0.11) on a non-GAAP basis, compared to our estimate of $0.04.

MGIC Pulls No Rabbits from Hats

MGIC Investment Corp.'s (NYSE: MTG) core 4Q08 results missed our expectations by $1.06 per share. Falling home prices and the continuing recession have caused a significant increase in delinquencies and continue to materially affect the company's results.

Further, MTG risk-to-capital ratio has increased to 16:1 for the quarter. We expect the ratio to continue its upward trend during 2009. If MGIC does not succeed in raising new capital, it may also fall below the minimum regulatory capital requirements, rendering it unable to write any new business.

Andina Performing Admirably

Embotelladora Andina S.A. (NYSE: AKO.A) is a leading bottler and distributor of soft drinks in Chile, Brazil, and Argentina. The company also produces beer, juices, and mineral water. It owns franchised Coca-Cola territories in the metropolitan area of Santiago, Chile and neighboring provinces. In Brazil, the company operates mainly in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Vitoria.

We reiterate our Buy rating on Embotelladora Andina. The company reported good results for the 4th quarter of 2008, despite the difficult economic environment. We believe this positive trend should continue in the short-to-medium term.
