Emergency Medical Services Corporation (NYSE: EMS) (EMSC or the Company)
announced today that it has entered into an agreement as a national
provider of hospital-based physician services (emergency department,
hospitalist, anesthesiology and radiology), to CHRISTUS Health. CHRISTUS
Health, a leading not-for-profit health care system, is headquartered in
Dallas and comprises almost 350 services and facilities, including more
than 50 hospitals and long-term care facilities and 175 clinics and
outpatient centers in seven U.S. states and Mexico.
Under the terms of the three-year agreement, CHRISTUS facilities may
contract for services with EmCare Inc., the Company’s outsourced
hospital-based physician services segment, and will benefit from
preferred pricing for certain services provided under the agreement,
with opportunities for additional cost savings as more agreements are
entered into for hospital-based services.
