General Motors Corp., down 12 cents to $2.06

The automaker said late Tuesday it would cut 47,000 jobs and may need as much as $30 billion from the government to survive.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., up 36 cents at $6.38

The biggest U.S. tire maker said the economy will force it to cut nearly 5,000 jobs this year. It posted a fourth-quarter loss.

Deere & Co., down $1.26 at $32.23

The maker of farm machinery said quarterly profit fell 45 percent, and it slashed its 2009 earnings outlook.

Chesapeake Energy Corp., down 74 cents at $16.38

The natural-gas producer posted a fourth-quarter loss as tumbling prices forced it to record a charge of $1.7 billion.

Owens Corning Inc., down 76 cents at $11.91

The building materials company posted a fourth-quarter loss as margins shrank in its Insulating Systems business.

Rockwood Holdings Inc., up 37 cents at $7.90

The chemicals maker posted a fourth-quarter loss and said it will eliminate about 900 jobs, or 9 percent of its work force, but adjusted earnings topped analyst estimates.

NASDAQ

Comcast Corp., down 53 cents at $12.36

The nation's biggest cable TV provider said quarterly earnings fell 32 percent, hampered by a $600 million write-down.

E-Trade Financial Corp., unchanged at $1.06

The online brokerage reported that new account openings dropped 30 percent last month and trading volume fell 8.3%.
