NewAlliance Bank Names New Chief Marketing Officer

Connecticut-based NewAlliance Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NewAlliance Bancshares, Inc. has appointed Mark Gibson as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
 
Mr. Gibson will be responsible for all of NewAlliance Bank's marketing disciplines, including branding, advertising, public relations and merchandising. He will also oversee community development, product management, and eBusiness. Mr. Gibson will report directly to Peyton R. Patterson, NewAlliance Bank's Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
 
Mr. Gibson joins NewAlliance after a 13-year tenure at Compass Bank, one of the top 25 largest banks in the United States, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer. Among Mr. Gibson's various accomplishments in this role was his appointment to lead various strategic business transformation activities associated with BBVA Group's 2007 acquisition of Compass Bank. These included brand development, new product initiatives such as the world's first customizable checking account, customer growth and retention programs, and deposit growth initiatives.

Prior to his tenure at Compass Bank, Mr. Gibson worked as a financial services marketing consultant for various agencies, including John Ryan Company in Stamford, Connecticut. During his time there, Mr. Gibson consulted on projects for clients such as Fleet Bank, Mellon Bank, HSBC, and ANZ Bank (New Zealand), where he stepped in as interim Senior Vice President, Marketing Director, while the company searched for an executive to fulfill the role.
 
Mr. Gibson is a graduate of Ohio State University, where he earned his B.S. in business administration and his Master's in marketing.
