Feb. 24--Discover Financial Services said late Monday that it has added two new directors to the Riverwoods credit-card issuer's board, boosting board membership to eleven.
The new directors include Cyntha A. Glassman, who spent three years as undersecretary for economic affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce and served for the four years prior to that as a commissioner at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; Glassman, who holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania, left the Commerce Department earlier this year, Discover said.
Also joining the board is retired Hershey Co. President and Chief Executive Officer Richard H. Lenny.
Discover's board lost two members in recent months as members left due to time commitments of their new appointments. Chairman Dennis Dammerman left in January to be a director at American International Group Inc.; Discover CEO David Nelms added the chairman's title following Dammercan's departure. And in September Phillip Laskawy left Discover's board to serve as chairman of Fannie Mae after the government took control of that entity.
