Feb. 25--KUWAIT -- On April 18, 2007 UEFA's (Union of European Football Associations) executive committee chose Poland and Ukraine to host the 14th European Football Championship, popularly known as EURO 2012. It is scheduled to be held in June-July 2012.
With regard to the event, the Polish Embassy held a press conference yesterday at its premises to encourage Kuwaiti entrepreneur to invest in Poland. "We want to show Kuwaiti investors that this event offers them a great business opportunity to invest in Poland. For this purpose, a Polish delegation will be visiting Kuwait on March 2 and 3, 2009," said Tomasz Sadzinski, the Second Secretary of the Polish Embassy in Kuwait.
This business opportunity can be realized in different fields. "Interested investors can invest in building hotels, roads, and other utilities. The delegation will lay emphasize on this event and the opportunity to welcome Kuwaiti investors and authorities, to make this event successful," added Sadzinski.
The Polish delegation is also visiting some GCC countries. "The delegation will visit all of Saudi Arabia KSA, Qatar, and UAE for the same purpose. As this is a great event, we hope they will exploit this business opportunity," he pointed out.
Football is a very popular game. "The EURO 2012 is a great event, and it is expected to attract thousands of football fans. Around 15, 000 spectators will attend the matches. Many others who fail to buy entrance tickets will need accommodation facilities. This will provide investors with the best opportunity to invest," stated Janusz Szwedo, the Ambassador of Poland to Kuwait.
The organization of Euro 2012 tournament is a great chance for everybody -for host countries to develop and promote themselves and also foreign investors who are welcome to participate in the investments undertaken," concluded Janusz Szwedo.
The idea of fostering cooperation between Poland and Ukraine to work concertedly towards this common aim began in 2003. This common goal finally bound the two neighboring countries. Matches will take place in six Polish cities: Warsaw, Cracow, Poznan, Wroclaw, Chorzow and Gdansk, as well as in six locations in Ukraine.
Poland has focused on building new stadia (in Warsaw, Gdansk and Wroclaw) and renovation of others (in Cracow, Chorzow and Poznan), according to UEFA's specifications. Transportation- related infrastructure such as roads, motorways, train stations, rail lines and airport terminals are being renovated and extended as well. Poland is also improvising and expanding its accommodation services -- hotels for teams, UEFA delegations, sponsors, VIP guests and fans.
