Feb. 27--Oklahoma City-based Walters Power International this week said it has sold two NG Solar Saturn T-20 gas turbines that will be used to provide power to a large resort/condominium development under construction in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The turbines will serve Palmyra Resort & Spa, a $1.8-billion resort. Each turbine can produce about 1,000 kilowatts of electricity. Walters Power International purchased and refurbished the turbine units, which it obtained in Europe.
Former Oklahoma Gov. David Walters is president of Walters Power International.
Energy summit Walters joined T. Boone Pickens and several prominent energy leaders in Washington, D.C., on Monday at the invitation-only National Clean Energy Project Summit.
The forum focused on improving the nation's power grid and taking steps to reduce the United States' dependence on foreign oil.
"Energy reform is long overdue and we now have an administration that recognizes that clean and renewable energy is not only good for the environment, it's good for the economy and national security, as well," Walters said.
"It's possible to make highly efficient natural gas plants nearly as clean as wind and soil."
