California Micro Devices Releases Advanced EMI Filters
Tuesday, March 03, 2009 1:41 PM

California Micro Devices Corporation, a provider of application specific analog and mixed signal semiconductor products, has introduced the CM1693 family of advanced EMI (electromagnetic interference) filters based upon its praetorian III LC filtering technology that offers signal integrity and EMI filtering for multimedia wireless handsets.

The company said its CM1693 device meets exacting EMI filter and ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection requirements while offering the low line capacitance necessary for the increasingly higher speed data interfaces to the high resolution cameras and displays used in most popular feature and smart phone models. The CM1693 also provides superior attenuation in the 700 MHz band, making it the optimal solution for handset designs based upon 4G LTE based processors.

The CM1693 is a low pass EMI filter that features a unique coupled inductor design architecture based on CMD's praetorian III technology. Praetorian III products offer higher performance than praetorian I products, at lower cost equivalent to the recently introduced praetorian II family of products. Praetorian III filter designs reportedly employ higher levels of inductance and lower levels of capacitance to deliver industry leading EMI suppression, excellent signal integrity and robust ESD production in a space efficient, single chip solution.

Inductor based LC solutions like the CM1693 are ideal for EMI filtering and protecting high speed parallel data interfaces in applications where digital signal integrity is critical, such as high megapixel cameras, high density removable memory modules, and high resolution displays.

The company primarily serves the mobile handset, digital consumer electronics and personal computer markets. Key products include protection devices for mobile handsets, digital consumer electronics products such as digital TVs, and personal computers as well as analog and mixed signal ICs for mobile handset displays.
