Mirion Technologies Health Physics Division, a portfolio company of American Capital, said that it has provided mobile radiation detection and identification systems to the Swiss Army.
Mirion, which operates in Europe, Asia, and North America, said that these extremely sensitive nuclear detection and real-time isotope identification systems can be flexibly deployed in vehicles.
The SPIR-Ident Mobile systems, from Mirion's MGP Instruments product line, combine spectroscopic isotope identification, using an advanced algorithm, with real-time localization capabilities. The systems are ruggedized and offer GPS mapping functionality with remote monitoring.
Antony Besso, President of Mirion's Health Physics Division, said: "We are honored to provide our state of the art mobile detection and identification equipment to the Swiss Army. We are committed to providing the military and civil defense industries with advanced applications for the detection and evaluation of radiological threats."
