Lowe's, a partner in the program since 2001, is being honored for its continued leadership in marketing its comprehensive line of products that have earned the ENERGY STAR, the mark of environmental protection through energy efficiency, as well as numerous energy-saving projects for the home. Lowe's has demonstrated its commitment to raising ENERGY STAR awareness in a variety of ways -- from promoting compact fluorescent light bulbs to helping pave the way for new energy-efficient technologies. The company has also shared its marketing savvy with ENERGY STAR.

'To be honored with an ENERGY STAR award for a sixth consecutive year validates the importance of our ongoing efforts to educate our customers about products that not only save money, but help conserve valuable natural resources,' said Bob Gfeller, Lowe's senior vice president, marketing and advertising. 'We all share in this responsibility, and we are proud to take a leadership role in promoting solutions that benefit both our customers and the environment.'

In 2007, Lowe's developed an advertising campaign dedicated to promoting its partnership with ENERGY STAR. Advertising Age recognized one of the ads as 'One of the Top 10 Most Liked, Most Recalled Ads.'

The 2008 Award for Excellence in Retail Commitment is given to the retailer that successfully promotes and delivers ENERGY STAR qualified products and projects, saving consumers money and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The award winners are selected from more then 9,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.

'Lowe's ongoing work with ENERGY STAR and its energy efficiency efforts serve as a great example to businesses across the U.S.,' said Robert J. Meyers, principal deputy assistant administrator for EPA's Office of Air & Radiation.
