Mar. 10--The York Water Company posted its highest ever operating revenues, net income, and dividends in 2008, according to a company announcement Tuesday.
President Jeffrey Hines said the gains are due to an increase in the customer base, a new distribution surcharge, and increased rates that became effective last fall.
Hines reported that operating revenues increased 4.5 percent, to $32.8 million compared to 2007. Net income increased 0.3 percent, to $6.4 million.
Dividends increased 2.9 percent, to $0.489 per share; it marks the company's 12th consecutive annual dividend increase.
