Arizona Public Service, an electricity subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital, has appointed industry veteran Mark Schiavoni as Senior Vice President of Fossil Operations effective April 13, 2009.

At Arizona Public Service (APS), Mr Schiavoni will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the company’s non-nuclear generation operations and maintenance, including nearly 7,000 megawatts of fossil and renewable energy, outage and work management, plant engineering and technical support, and operational oversight of co-owned facilities.

Mr Schiavoni joins APS from Exelon Corporation where he spent nine successful years, most recently as senior vice president of Exelon Generation and president of Exelon Power.

Mr Schiavoni succeeds John Denman, APS Senior Vice President of Fossil Operations, who has announced his retirement effective year-end after a distinguished 45-year APS career, including leading the company’s fossil generating plants the last 12 years.
