THQ to create Disney/Pixar game 'Up'

(Source: Associated Press/AP Online)trackingAGOURA HILLS, Calif. - Game maker THQ Inc. said Tuesday it is set to release a video game based on "Up," a movie by The Walt Disney Co.'s Pixar Animation Studios that is slated for theaters May 29.

The game will be made for seven platforms, including Nintendo's Wii and DS, Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation platforms, as well as for Mac and PC users.

THQ's Heavy Iron Studios is leading development of the game. The unit has also made games based on the Pixar movies "Ratatouille" and "WALL-E."

The "Up" game takes players on an adventure with characters from the movie including Carl Fredricksen, a senior citizen who transports his house to South America with dozens of balloons, and his young sidekick, Wilderness Explorer Russell.
