Assurant Appoints New EVP of HR
New York-based Fortune 500 specialty insurance provider Assurant has appointed Sylvia Wagner as the new executive vice president of human resources and development, effective April 1, 2009.
Ms Wagner succeeds Lesley Silvester, who retires on July 1, 2009. During the next three months, Ms Silvester and Ms Wagner will work together to transition their duties at Assurant.
Citi Board Proposes Four New Independent Directors
Global financial services company Citi said its Board of Directors has nominated four new independent director candidates to be voted on at Citi’s annual shareholder meeting on April 21, 2009. The candidates are Jerry Grundhofer, Michael O’Neill, Anthony Santomero, and William Thompson, Jr.
The Board currently has 15 directors, three of whom previously announced that they will not be standing for election at the April Annual Meeting and two of whom will reach retirement age by the time of the Meeting. The remaining 10 directors are up for re-election. With the election of the four new candidates, the total number of Board members would be 14.
Northrop Grumman Appoints Vice President and Sector Counsel
Global security company Northrop Grumman has appointed David Carlton as vice president, associate general counsel and sector counsel for its Technical Services. He reports to Stephen Yslas, corporate vice president and general counsel.
Mr Carlton most recently served as assistant general counsel and associate sector counsel for Technical Services. Previously, he served in the company's Electronic Systems sector as counsel to its Naval & Marine Systems and C4ISR & Space Sensors divisions and provided legal support to the sector's finance operations. He also served as director of business operations for the Government Systems Division of the Electronic Systems sector.
Walgreens Names Bob Evans Farms’s CEO to Board
Drugstore chain Walgreen has said that Steven Davis, chairman and chief executive officer of Bob Evans Farms, has been elected to its board of directors, effective immediately. Mr Davis, who joins the board as an independent director, becomes the board’s 12th member.
Before joining Bob Evans in 2006, Mr Davis worked at Yum! Brands, where he had been president of Long John Silver’s and A&W All-American Food Restaurants since 2002.
Fortune Brands Appoints New CEO of Beam Global Spirits & Wine
Consumer goods major Fortune Brands has appointed Matthew Shattock as the new chief executive officer of its Beam Global Spirits & Wine business, effective April 22, 2009.
Mr Shattock is a veteran leader in the consumer packaged goods industry who most recently led major business units of Cadbury Plc.
