Mar. 19--Comcast has announced that it will launch high-definition television service today, bringing HDTV programming access from Fox News, Travel Channel, National Geographic, Food Network and CNN to customers in Portales.

To celebrate the launch of this new service, Comcast will host a celebration event that will include product demonstrations, entertainment, food and technical information. The event is set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Comcast office, 708 E. Second Street.
