Heightened consumer desire for greener, non-polluting, better
eco-designed products is the backdrop for presentations by specialty
materials company Rohm and Haas (NYSE: ROH) at the upcoming European
Coatings Congress in Nürnberg, Germany. Running from March 30th
to April 1st in parallel with the European Coatings Show,
participants from the global coatings community will be exposed to the
most recent research results and industrial developments for advanced
coatings. Rohm and Haas is well represented at the Congress with members
of the company’s technical team presenting a number
of papers devoted to topics that support the central theme of the
Congress: how to address today’s challenges of increasing customer and
legislative demands for enhanced coatings performance, and greater
environmental benefit.
Chairing Congress Session 16 on Waterborne Coatings II on Tuesday, March
31st, will be Rohm and Haas European technical director, Dr.
Andrew Trapani. This session will focus on innovative, waterborne
coatings systems that reduce VOC emissions, reduce risk of fire, and
produce less hazardous residues, while contributing advanced performance
attributes. Other Rohm and Haas technical specialists presenting during
the Congress include:
-
Dr. Marie Bleuzen - “Advanced Technologies for the Formulation of
Higher Performance Waterborne Masonry Coatings with Lower
Environmental Impact”;
-
Dr. Zhenwen Fu - ”Designed Diffusion: A Paradigm Shift in Film
Formation”;
-
Mr. Alain Garzon - “Next Generation Opaque Polymer Technology and Its
Application to Alkyd Paints”;
-
Mr. Paul Doll - “Low Odour in Paints: What Does It Mean and How Can It
Be Managed?”
Six shorter papers will also be presented by Rohm and Haas technical
team members at the parallel “Fachvoträge”
sessions within the Congress arena.
According to Dr. Andrew Trapani, “It is now almost two years since REACH
legislation took effect calling for progressive substitution of the most
dangerous chemicals when suitable alternatives become available. This
responsibility of industry to manage the risks from chemicals and to
provide safety information on improved alternative substances is an
important contribution that our company is dedicated to helping coating
customers achieve.”
Visitors will also be able to meet our biocides
experts to find out how they can benefit from our environmentally
advanced, high performing antimicrobial solutions for latex, dry-film
and in-can preservation.
