Apr. 21--Ten Wisconsin companies are included on this year's revenue-based Fortune 500 list.

With 2008 revenue of $6.4 billion, American Family Insurance, ranking 368th, was the only Madison-based company on the list. It was sixth in the list of Wisconsin companies.

Ranking 58th on the national list with revenue of $38.1 billion, Johnson Controls of Milwaukee, was the top-ranked Wisconsin company, followed by Northwestern Mutual of Milwaukee (118th, $21.7 billion) and Manpower of Milwaukee (119th, $21.6 billion).

Kohl's of Menomonee Falls (155th, $16.4 billion) and Oshkosh Corp. of Oshkosh (349th, $7.1 billion) rounded out the top five Wisconsin companies.

Other Wisconsin companies listed are Harley-Davidson of Milwaukee (412th, $6 billion); Rockwell Automation of Milwaukee (429th, $5.7 billion); Manitowoc of Manitowoc (480th, $4.9 billion) and Fiserv of Brookfield (482nd, $4.9 billion).

Exxon Mobil Corp. topped the overall list with 2008 revenue of $442.9 billion, moving past Wal-Mart Stores, which had revenue of $405.6 billion.

Marshall & Ilsley Corp. of Milwaukee fell out of the Fortune 500 to 550th with revenue of $4 billion.

Two Madison companies made the Fortune 1000 list. They are Alliant Energy (588th, $3.7 billion) and CUNA Mutual Group (792nd, $2.4 billion).

Other Wisconsin companies in the Fortune 1000 were Wisconsin Energy, Bemis, Joy Global, JohnsonDiversey, Snap-On, Bucyrus International, A.O. Smith, Regal-Beloit, Briggs & Stratton, Sentry Insurance Group, Modine Manufacturing, RBS Global, Plexus and MGIC Investment.
