Bank of America Corp., up 53 cents at $8.68

Chairman and CEO Ken Lewis defended acquisitions of Merrill Lynch & Co. and Countrywide Financial Corp. at the bank's annual meeting.

General Dynamics Corp., up $2.73 at $53.34

The defense contractor said the division making Gulfstream jets was the only unit not posting a profit, and its backlog of orders rose.

Time Warner Inc., up 21 cents at $21.98

Sinking ad revenues hit profit, but the media company moved to offload its troubled AOL unit and suggested its magazines could go.

Aetna Inc., down $2.52 at $21.88

Members used more medical services per person, driving the managed care company's medical costs up more than had been expected.

DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc., up $4.80 at $23.87

Strong DVD sales bucked an industrywide decline, driving profit higher, and CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg's contract was renewed through 2014.

NASDAQ

E-Trade Financial Corp., down 83 cents at $1.63

Shares sank by nearly a third after the online brokerage said regulators want it to raise more capital and posted a big loss.

Dendreon Corp., up $11.13 at $22.94

Shares doubled, recovering from a mystery plunge on Tuesday as investors applauded trial results from a prostate cancer treatment.

Ameristar Casinos Inc., up $3.06 at $18

The casino operator reinstated its quarterly dividend after its credit situation eased and posted earnings that topped expectations.
