DETROIT, April 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mark A. Murray, president of Meijer Inc., and Gerard M. Anderson, president and chief operating officer of DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE), were elected to the DTE Energy Board of Directors on Thursday.
Murray, 54, joined Meijer as president in 2006 after serving as president of Grand Valley State University from 2001 to 2006. Previously, he held a number of financial positions with the state of Michigan, completing his career there as state treasurer.
Anderson, 51, oversees all of DTE Energy's electric, gas and nuclear operations, encompassed in its two main operating subsidiaries, Detroit Edison and MichCon, as well as all of its non- utility businesses. He has been the architect and leader of the company's strategy to develop its non-regulated businesses and its focus on cost and operational excellence in the utility businesses.

Murray, an East Grand Rapids, Mich., resident, will initially serve on the board's Public Responsibility Committee. He is also a board member of Universal Forest Products Inc. Murray holds bachelor's and master's degrees in economics, and industrial and labor relations, respectively, from Michigan State University.
An Ann Arbor, Mich., resident, Anderson earned a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering at the University of Notre Dame. He also earned a master of business administration degree and a master of public policy degree from the University of Michigan. He serves on The Henry Ford Board of Trustees.
