The US Navy's Naval Inventory Control Point has implemented MCA Solutions's spare parts inventory optimization software application to determine the optimal aviation inventory levels at its retail locations. MCA is a subcontractor to CACI-Federal in this effort.
As an integral part of the Navy's Readiness Suite (RS), MCA's software is currently integrated with legacy applications. The RS, which includes MCA's software, is expected to be integrated with the Navy's SAP ERP project, scheduled to be completed in February 2010.
According to MCA Solutions, CACI's integration of its software into the RS enables the Navy to move forward with a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS ) Readiness Based Sparing (RBS) solution prior to the enterprise resource planning (ERP) integration. The RS, developed and maintained by CACI, provides a single interface to Navy ERP for all RBS-related production and analysis in support of Naval weapon systems.
MCA Solutions has said that the RS, combined with MCA's software, allows the customer to conduct trade-off analysis, tactical planning, phased budget reporting and service inventory optimization. This combination of technologies improves readiness focus and enhances analysis capabilities while reducing retail spares requirements.
MCA Solutions has also said that the next phase of the project will expand the use of MCA's software in the Navy's wholesale locations, including maritime and base operating stock inventory, completing the Navy's objective to have a single inventory planning solution for all inventory, across all locations.
Bob Salvucci, president and CEO of MCA Solutions, said: "MCA is honored to be a part of the US Navy and the Office of the Secretary of Defense's initiative to implement COTS RBS software applications in order to increase productivity, reduce costs and better serve the warfighter."
