Krispy Kreme to open at Arizona Pavilions
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is slated to open at Arizona Pavilions near North Cortaro Road and Interstate 10 by the end of June.
The doughnut shop has signed a lease for 1,500 square feet within Buena Vista Plaza at Arizona Pavilions in Marana, according to an announcement from Volk Company Commercial Real Estate.
Dan Brinton owns the franchise and also operates six Krispy Kreme shops in the Phoenix area.
A Krispy Kreme franchise owner, Nebraska-based Rigel Corp., closed its Tucson stores in 2006 after filing for bankruptcy.
Solar-panel business leases storage space
Solon Corp., which manufactures solar panels in Tucson, has leased an additional 44,764 square feet for warehouse storage at the Tucson Commerce Center, 3000 E. Elvira Road.
Solon, a wholly owned subsidiary of German solar-module manufacturer Solon SE, has occupied 101,266 square feet of space at the commerce center near Tucson International Airport since October.
Grubb & Ellis Co. represented Solon in the deal.
ARIZONA
Owners will close coal-fired power plant
The owners of the shuttered Mohave Generating Station in Laughlin, Nev., said they will decommission the power plant once supplied with coal from the Hopi and Navajo reservations.
Majority owner Southern California Edison shut down the 1,580- megawatt plant in 2006 because it needed pollution-control and pipeline upgrades costing more than $1 billion.
