Bowne XChanger allows Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) registrants to update XBRL (Extensible Business Reporting Language) documents created using a prior version of the US GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) taxonomies with the recently released 2009 version. This solution is an easy-to-use desktop application and is available for download at Bowne's main XBRL web site, www.bowne.com/xbrl.

The SEC recently announced that the EDGAR System will begin officially supporting the new taxonomies on July 22, 2009 and is strongly encouraging companies to begin using the new taxonomies immediately. Companies that have previously created XBRL extension taxonomies and instance documents using a prior version of the US GAAP taxonomies will need to update and review their documents based on this new version. While companies could elect to update their XBRL documents manually, or pay fees to have them updated by a third party, Bowne XChanger automates this process.
