Coventry Health Care, Inc. (NYSE:CVH) mourns the death of Dr. John
Austin, a member of Coventry’s Board of Directors from 1988 until his
retirement in May 2009. Dr. Austin, who served as Chairman of the Board
from 1995 to 2004, died tragically in a small plane crash.
“John’s passing came as a shock to us all and leaves us with great
sadness,” said Allen F. Wise, chairman and chief executive officer of
Coventry. “Having personally served with him for many years on the Board
was truly a rewarding experience marked by John’s talents and
dedication. Beyond that he was a good friend and he will be missed both
professionally and personally. All of our heartfelt sympathies are
extended to his family in this difficult time.”
