Company Continues Growth and Expansion Strategy
Dataram Corporation (NASDAQ: DRAM),
today announced the acquisition of Micro Memory Bank, Inc. (MMB), a
prominent memory module company offering legacy to advanced solutions in
laptop, desktop and server memory products. John Freeman, President and
CEO said “This is another step in our growth strategy announced in 2008
which described acquisitions, licensing, partnering and internal
development as the basis of our growth plans. This acquisition supports
growth in the Company’s memory business while also increasing
diversification by adding new products and new routes to market. In
early Fall the company also expects to announce initial products as a
result of our ongoing internal development programs.”
MMB, a manufacturer of legacy, industry standard and proprietary memory
modules, is headed by David S. Sheerr. Mr. Sheerr has accumulated
extensive experience in this industry since entering it in 1989. In
1994, Mr. Sheerr started Micro Memory Bank, Inc. (MMB), located just
outside of Philadelphia. Initially MMB was engaged predominately in
brokering DRAM and processors. In 1995 the company migrated to a memory
module manufacturer producing JEDEC compliant SIMMS and DIMMS.
From 1996 on, MMB transitioned away from processors and focused
exclusively on memory, including proprietary, application specific and
private label products. MMB has been an active JEDEC member since 2000.
In 2001 the company expanded to an 18,000 square foot facility and moved
its operations to Montgomeryville, PA. To further their market
penetration, the company became ISO 9001:2000 certified in 2003. In
2006, the company experienced significant growth by launching two end
user online retail stores, www.memorystore.com
and www.18004memory.com.
Today, MMB and its affiliate online retail operations procure and sell
memory for laptops, desktops and servers. The company maintains a
particular niche in legacy memory products by being one of the few
companies in the industry that carries and stocks virtually every memory
upgrade ever made. That includes technologies such as FPM, EDO, SDRAM,
DDR, as well as cutting edge DDR2 and DDR3 products for Notebooks, PCs
and Servers. MMB also sells MMB also sells memory products for a wide
range of consumer oriented devices including significant business in
Apple-Mac memory.
Mr. Freeman continued, “This acquisition is an important part of our
strategy to expand and grow our Memory Solutions business. It positions
Dataram with a more comprehensive product set to offer our customers and
continues our strategy to grow our memory solutions business. David
Sheerr is the third executive to join Dataram in the past 12 months who
has had previous experience as the president of a company. David’s
entrepreneurial skills and business success in our industry are valuable
additions to our executive team.”
Regarding the acquisition, Mr. Sheerr commented, “The products and
capabilities of MMB and Dataram will nicely compliment each other. The
new company will have expanded routes to market through e-tail and web
stores. We now have an expanded product line of legacy products, pc’s,
notebooks, Apple, and RAM memory upgrades immediately offering our
clients a broader range of price/performance.”
