KLM's regional subsidiary increases its orders for the EMBRAER 190
SAO JOSE DOS CAMPOS, Brazil, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Embraer and KLM
Cityhopper, KLM's regional subsidiary, signed a contract for another seven
EMBRAER 190 jets, confirming the options in the original contract, announced
in August 2007. The Dutch airline still has 11 options to buy Embraer jets.
The initial deliveries of this new order should take place during the first
semester of 2010.
'We could not be more honored and proud than we are of this confirmation
by KLM Cityhopper and the AIR FRANCE KLM Group,' said Mauro Kern, Embraer
Executive Vice President, Airline Market. 'With this deal, KLM, which is one
of the world's most admired and respected airline companies, confirms that the
E-Jets are the aircraft of choice for modernizing its regional fleet.'
At the present time, KLM Cityhopper operates four EMBRAER 190 jets on its
regional European routes. By the end of this year, KLM Cityhopper will have
taken delivery of ten EMBRAER 190 jets to replace its 15 oldest Fokker 100
jets. All of the EMBRAER 190's for KLM Cityhopper will be configured with 100
seats.
'KLM Cityhopper is impressed with the excellent performance of its first
four EMBRAER 190 from an operational-technical and customer perspective,' said
Boet Kreiken, Managing Director of KLM Cityhopper. 'The markets we operate on
and our passengers have recognized the same as we have received many
compliments in the meantime.'
