Firm to Provide Biomedical and Clinical Information Services
ICF International (NASDAQ:ICFI) health informatics group was awarded a
new five-year contract valued at more than $60 million with the National
Institutes of Health (NIH). Through this multi-year contract, ICF will
provide support for biomedical and clinical services, such as data
collection and analysis, information dissemination, and outreach
initiatives for multiple NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) including the
National Library of Medicine (NLM), the National Cancer Institute, the
National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, the Office
of Dietary Supplements, and the Office of Rare Disease Research. ICF
will support key programs related to HIV/AIDS, genetics, cancer, rare
diseases, dietary supplements, clinical trials, treatment guidelines,
and other federal health initiatives.
"As the pace of biomedical research and innovations in technology
accelerates, demand for transparency and public access to this important
information continues to increase,” stated Matthew Perry, ICF vice
president and program director. "We are very pleased to be selected to
provide our combination of subject matter expertise and innovative
information technology (IT) to support NLM and NIH ICs in their
challenging mission to acquire, preserve, and disseminate biomedical
knowledge for the benefit of the public health."
This award strengthens ICF’s existing portfolio of large health
informatics contracts, which includes projects at the NIH electronic
Research Administration (eRA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services (CMS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"ICF has a long and successful history supporting Health and Human
Services programs through both strong subject matter expertise and the
innovative use of information technology," said Ellen Glover, ICF
executive vice president. "We are committed to employing the right
combination of systems, services, personnel, and management agility to
address the dynamic needs of NLM and the other NIH ICs and to assist
them in achieving their strategic goals and those of the new
presidential administration.”
