BIRMINGHAM, Ala., May 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Infinity Property and Casualty Corporation (Nasdaq: IPCC) today announced that at the company's annual shareholders' meeting on May 18, 2009, nine directors were re-elected to the board along with the election of one new independent board member. Additionally, Ernst & Young LLP was ratified as Infinity's independent registered public accounting firm.
Re-elected for one year terms were Jorge G. Castro, CEO for Lombardia Capital Partners; James R. Gober, Chairman, CEO and President of Infinity; Harold E. Layman, retired CEO and president of Blount International, Inc.; Drayton Nabers, Jr., a partner in the law firm of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, P.C.; Samuel J. Simon, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Infinity; Roger Smith, Executive Vice President, CFO and Treasurer of Infinity; William Stancil Starnes, Chairman and CEO of ProAssurance Corporation; Gregory C. Thomas, retired CFO and Executive Vice President of Citicasters, Inc.; and Samuel J. Weinhoff, insurance industry consultant.
Newly elected to the board was Maria Teresa Alvarez Canida. Ms. Canida is currently serving as President of Taplin, Canida & Habacht LLC. Ms. Canida served as President, Managing Principal and Chief Compliance Officer of Taplin, Canida & Habacht, Inc. (predecessor to Taplin, Canida & Habacht LLC) from 1985 to 2008.
