Company Enhances Free Focal Point Software Which Assists With Device Management, Configuration and Monitoring
MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- (Marketwire) -- 05/18/09 -- Transition Networks Inc., the media
conversion and switching technology expert, a wholly owned subsidiary of
Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: JCS), today announced the release of
the next generation of its free network management software, Focal Point
2.2. With improvements to its usability and feature enhancements to its
Java(TM)-based SNMP GUI, Focal Point customers are now able to monitor,
configure and control Transition Networks equipment from a single
interface, saving network administrators time and money.
"Transition Networks has a strong reputation for delivering high-quality
feature rich products to our customers," said Patrick Schaber, Director of
Marketing at Transition Networks. "Focal Point 2.2 builds on that
reputation by providing customers an easy way to configure and monitor
advanced functions found in many of our products, without causing the
customer to learn an entirely new system."
Product Features
Focal Point 2.2 has a "tree" design and layout that customers are familiar
with from other software applications. This new design reduces the
learning curve often associated with new software programs. Many of the
new features for Focal Point 2.2 are visual items designed to provide a
more user friendly application, including a discovery screen that features
a progress bar when discovering managed devices and the main chassis view
screen that showcases the entire Point System chassis in a single view and
has a "pop-up" to display the card front in greater detail.
All of the current capabilities found in Transition Networks' Focal Point
2.1 are included in Focal Point 2.2. These include an integrated trap
server and trap viewer.
