Kellogg's Frosted Flakes(R) Cereal Announces Public Voting For Its Nationwide Field Renovation Winners
BATTLE CREEK, Mich., May 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The finalists have been named, and now it's time to help determine the winners. Kellogg Company (NYSE: K) today announced that it is seeking online votes for the Kellogg's Frosted Flakes(TM) Earn Your Stripes(TM) field renovation program. The Kellogg's Frosted Flakes(TM) Earn Your Stripes(TM) program created this initiative to provide children across the country with the opportunity to stay active and be their very best by giving them better places to play. In total, thousands of fields were nominated for renovation. Those fields have now been narrowed down to 100 finalists based on judging criteria such as condition of the field and impact on the community. Your vote will help determine the 30 winning fields. In addition, Frosted Flakes will renovate 25 fields in partnership with select retailers for a combined total of 55 field makeovers in 2009.
This initiative, first announced in January, is making over athletic fields across the country as part of Kellogg Company's continued commitment to encouraging healthier lifestyles and building stronger communities. Consumers now can vote online for their favorite field at www.frostedflakes.com until May 31.
'As park and recreation budgets are being cut throughout the country, we feel it is more important than ever to ensure our children have ample opportunities to stay active,' said Kathleen Piper, director, brand marketing-kid, U.S. Ready-to-Eat Cereals, Kellogg Company. 'We've been overwhelmed with the incredible community support for these fields, and we feel that this initiative is a great way for Kellogg to make a real difference in kids' lives.'
Nominations were accepted for designated outdoor baseball, softball, T-ball, soccer, football, lacrosse, field hockey fields, track or basketball courts. The entries were narrowed from thousands of total nominations to 100 field finalists based on:
- The feasibility of the field makeover
- The location and age of the field
- How often the field is used
- How many events take place on the field each month or year
- What teams use the field
- The number of other athletic fields in the community
- The demand for the field
- Condition of the field
- The impact a field renovation would have on the community
Consumers may vote online for their favorite field once per day during the voting period.
