Company Also to Present Four Posters and Additional Oral Presentation
on its Technology
Rosetta Genomics, Ltd. (NASDAQ:ROSG), an innovative molecular diagnostic
company leveraging microRNAs as biomarkers, reports that at the annual
meeting of the American Association of Cancer Research it will present
data on its lead product candidate, a noninvasive diagnostic being
developed for colon cancer screening. The oral presentation, titled
“Circulating microRNAs as potential blood-based biomarkers for diagnosis
of colorectal cancer” will be given in a session on Biomarkers for
Diagnosis, Prognosis, and Therapy Response on Tuesday, April 21, 2009,
beginning at 10:00 a.m. local time. The meeting is being held April 18 –
22 in Denver at the Colorado Convention Center.
“We are very proud to have our work on our colon cancer diagnostic
acknowledged at such an important scientific meeting,” said Amir Avniel,
president and chief executive officer of Rosetta Genomics. “As
previously announced, this non-invasive serum diagnostic will be the
Company’s primary product-development focus in 2009. With a potential
target market of 90 million Americans annually, Rosetta’s goal is to be
able to launch the test in our Philadelphia lab by the end of this year
or early 2010. We are also very proud to have poster presentations on
our currently marketed miRview™ tests and an additional oral
presentation on a liver cancer therapeutic using microRNAs at this
meeting,” Mr. Avniel added.
In their presentation on the diagnosis of colorectal cancer, Ayelet
Chajut et al conclude that “certain microRNAs were found in
different amounts in sera of colorectal cancer patients compared with
healthy controls. Thus, circulating microRNAs represent promising
candidates for robust, sensitive and easily accessible biomarkers in
colorectal cancers.”
Additional poster presentations on the Company’s tests miRview squamous,
MiRview mets and MiRview meso can be viewed on Wednesday, April 22 from
8:00 a.m. until noon local time. An oral presentation entitled, “The use
of anti-miRs against miRNA as a potential therapy for hepatocellular
carcinoma,” will be given in a session on MicroRNAs/Noncoding RNAs and
Cancer beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, April 20.
